Demco SBS Air Force One Supplemental Braking System Installation - 2017 GMC Sierra 1500

Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna show you how to install the Demco Air Force One supplemental braking system on our 2017 GMC Sierra 1500. Now, the biggest reason for adding a supplemental braking system, especially like the Air Force One to your GMC Sierra is going to be so that your vehicle can stop itself while you're flat towing it behind your motor home. There's a lot of states that will require you to have a supplemental braking system and it all is typically based off of weight. So you want to check in the states that you're gonna be traveling through to make sure what your requirements are. But 9 times out of 10 they're gonna have, you're gonna have to have something. more

Brake Buddy Classic 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System Installation - 2019 GMC Yukon- Video

Brake Buddy Classic 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System Installation - 2019 GMC Yukon

Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we've got a 2019 GMC Yukon, and we're gonna be taking a look at, and I'm gonna show you how to install the Brake Buddy supplemental braking system. The Brake Buddy Classic Three is going to be a portable braking system and it's essentially designed so that you don't have to permanently install anything underneath the hood or on the brake pedal itself to have braking in your vehicle behind your motor home when you're going down the road. This system is also known as a transferable system, so if you decide to get a different vehicle to pull behind your motor home, this is gonna be a great option, because all you're gonna have to do is pull your wiring that you run up to the battery, pull that out, and then install a new breakaway switch and then take your Brake Buddy out and put it on your new car. Now the reason why you want to add a braking system to your vehicle is because motor homes are not designed to just stop dead weight behind them. They are large and they can stop a lot of weight, but that doesn't mean it's safe when you're going down the road, especially if you're going downhills or uphills. more

Demco SBS Air Force One Supplemental Braking System Installation - 2016 GMC Terrain

Hello, neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer. And today, we're taking a look and installing the Demco Air Force One supplemental braking system. Now, this is gonna be a great option if you have air brakes on your coach, and today it's going on a 2016 GMC Terrain. Now, in flat towing your Terrain, there's gonna be five main components required for flat towing and the first one's gonna be a base plate, and that's gonna be the attachment point for all of your components, and it's attached to the frame of the vehicle, creating a nice sturdy mounting point. Going along with that, you have safety chains, which are in case of a disconnect, it's gonna hold everything together and that way the car's not getting disconnected. Now, between your base plate and the hitch on the RV, you are gonna have your tow bar and that is simply that connection point that allows it to pivot as you're going down the road. more

Before we do that, though, let's take a couple minutes, check it out, and make sure it's going to be right for you. Before we jump right in, I figured it'd be useful just to kind of refresh ourselves on the main parts that we're gonna need to flat tow our GMC down the road in the first place. So you're gonna have your base plate, which gives us an attachment point. That way, we can hook our tow bar up to it. more

Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit Installation - 2015 GMC Canyon

Hey everybody, Ryan here at e-trailer. Today on our 2015 GMC Canyon we're gonna be showing you how to install the Roadmaster Stoplight Switch kit. But before we do that, let's take a minute, check it out, and make sure this is something you might need. A stoplight switch is a really simple component and it's only really needed in some cases and it's really just gonna depend on what braking system you plan on using. So right off the top of my head, at least the the popular ones that I'm familiar with that could benefit from this is the Stay-IN-Play DUO supplemental braking system like we have here today on our GMC as well as the Roadmaster InvisiBrake. And what that stoplight switch is gonna do is send power to the braking system's indicator light letting you know when the brake pedal is actually getting pushed down in the vehicle when the supplemental braking system is operating. more

Hi, John with etrailer. Hey, today we're gonna be taking a look at the Demco Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System on a 2019 GMC Canyon. So right off the bat, if you're interested in a supplemental braking system like this you just need to know that the Stay-IN-Play DUO is designed for RVs that have hydraulic brakes. If your rig has air brakes, then an equally great system, it's Demco's Air Force One Supplemental Braking System. So if you're interested in towing your GMC Canyon there's five main components that you're really gonna need to get you set up and ready to hit the road. Number one, the base plate. more

Hi there, GMC owners. Today, in your 2021 GMC Canyon, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install Demco's Air Force One Supplemental Braking System. And this is what our breaking system looks like when it's installed. This is a permanently mounted braking system that will stay on your vehicle, whether or not you're flat towing or you're driving it around town. This system operates off of the air pressure from the air brakes on your motorhome, so when you're driving around town not hooked up, it will never be able to activate for you, so it's a nice safe system. And it is a truly proportional system because the harder you hit your brakes in the motorhome, the more pressure it's gonna send back to this system and apply the brakes here harder. more

Demco SBS Air Force One Supplemental Braking System Installation - 2015 GMC Sierra 2500

Hey everyone, how's it going Today, we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the Demco Air Force One supplemental braking system, here on a 2015 GMC Sierra 2,500. So a supplemental braking system is required in nearly every state for vehicles over a certain weight. So it's gonna be a good idea to use one for your towing setup. Now, a supplemental braking system, what it does in its most basic form, it pretty much transfers the brakes from your motor home to the towed vehicle. So the reason this is important is, some of our towed vehicles, especially our larger truck here, they're gonna put strain on the motor homes brake. It's gonna wear the motor home's brakes faster and it's not gonna allow us to come to a smooth and effective stop, as we would normally when we're not towing. more

Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System Installation - 2012 GMC Terrain

Connor: Hey everybody, Connor here today at etrailer.com. We're going to be taking a look at the Demco Stay-IN-Play supplemental braking system, here for our 2012 GMC Terrain. So a supplemental braking system is going to be required by law in nearly every State. Now, basically what this does is it's going to apply the brakes in our towed vehicle in relation to us applying the brakes in our motor home. So essentially it's going to help us come to a stop sooner and it's going to take some of the wear and tear off our motor homes braking system. So the Demco Stay-IN-Play is sort of unique in that it's a proportional braking system and basically what this means is, it's going to apply the brakes in our towed vehicle in a proportional amount to those in the motor home. more

Once your control unit detects a brake signal from your RV, it will check the internal inertia signal to determine the appropriate time to apply the brakes and how hard.Sensitivity adjustment can be found here on the side. Simply unscrew the knob, move it up and down, tighten it back down to adjust it. There's an on and off switch located on the side. This will arm your braking system, that way it's looking for a signal from your RV and this disables it so you can disconnect your vehicle, drive down the road and you don't have to worry about your braking system activating. The actuating cylinder connects to your brake pedal. more

Roadmaster InvisiBrake Braking System Installation - 2012 GMC Terrain- Video

Roadmaster InvisiBrake Braking System Installation - 2012 GMC Terrain

Speaker 1: Today on our 2012 GMC Terrain, we're going to be taking a look at a Roadmaster InvisiBrake supplemental braking system, part number RM-8700.Whenever we're going to flat tow our Terrain, it's important that we have a supplemental braking system so that we don't wear out the brakes on our motor home, but also, we don't have our Terrain pushing us down the road, making it unsafe. That's where InvisiBrake is going to help. Our InvisiBrake is going to apply the brakes on our Terrain at the same time that they're being applied on our motor home, so we're not going to have that major strain of only relying on our motor home's brakes to slow down. The clamp on the pedal of the pulley on the firewall is about the only thing that we're going to be able to see. Our InvisiBrake is going to be a one-time installation. Set it up, and we're done. We're not going to have to worry about pulling out some box, like some of the portable braking systems. more

SMI Air Force One Braking System Installation - 2007 GMC Sierra New Body

Speaker 1: Today on our 2007 GMC Sierra 1500, we're going to be taking a look at, and showing you how to install the SMI Air Force One Supplemental Braking System for motor homes with air brakes. Part number SM99243. Here's a look of the main component of our braking system. The actuator is going to provide a proportional force on our brakes in our towed vehicle. What that means is while we are traveling, when we apply our brakes in our RV, our braking system in our towed vehicle will match the amount of force being applied. That will allow our towed vehicle to stop on its own, rather than the RV stopping both vehicles, in turn saving the brakes on the RV.This is the hookup to the RV, so that if for some reason the vehicle comes apart from the back of the RV, this will pull, and it'll apply the brakes on the vehicle being towed. more

SMI Air Force One Braking System Installation - 2018 GMC Sierra 2500- Video

SMI Air Force One Braking System Installation - 2018 GMC Sierra 2500

Speaker 1: Today on our 20018 GMC Sierra 2500, we're going to be taking a look at the SMI Air Force One supplemental braking system for motor homes with air brakes, part number SM9943. The Air Force One is going to be a proportional braking system and it's going to take the air pressure from your motor home's air brakes and apply it to the towed vehicle's brakes. So it's going to match up perfectly. Now if we just tap our brakes in our coach, it's going to slightly apply them to the car.now when I apply the brakes in my motor home, I do have an indicator that's mounted in the towed vehicle and then it will go out when I release the brakes. Now on the operating unit itself, we're going to have a vacuum port here on the end and it is labeled. Then on the side, we're going to have the exhaust port. more

Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit Installation - 2007 GMC Sierra New Body- Video

Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit Installation - 2007 GMC Sierra New Body

Speaker 1: Today in our 2007 GMC Sierra 1500 we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit for pickups and SUVs with adjustable pedals, part number RM-751220.So this is where the brake light switch is. Now, what you're going to see is on the end of this brake light switch when I push on my pedal, you'll see a white plunger come out. What that does is when that plunger comes out it sends power to the green wire, which is connected to a light, indicating that the brakes are being applied in the towed vehicle. This is to let the person or whoever is driving the towing vehicle know that the brakes are being applied. When the plunger goes back in the power gets shut off to the brakes, the light goes off, and the person in the towing vehicle knows that the brakes are now not being applied.First thing we're going to do is we're going to take our bracket and we're going to locate our position underneath the dash where this is going to sit with our brake light switch. So in order to do that, we're going to have to remove your vents that runs right along the bottom here, and you can just use a trim panel tool to pry it off.So I'll set this up in there and then you can get in there and look and see where it's going to be positioned. more

Roadmaster InvisiBrake Braking System Installation - 2015 GMC Terrain- Video

Roadmaster InvisiBrake Braking System Installation - 2015 GMC Terrain

Speaker 1: Today on our 2015 GMC Terrain we're going to be taking a look at the Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System, part number RM-8700. With our InvisiBrake installed, it's going to give us real time braking while we're towing our Terrain down the road with our motor home. Now, it's going to activate our brakes on our towed vehicle whenever we apply the brakes in our RV.The main benefit of this braking system over many others is that it's a permanent installation, and once we have it set up we're not going to have to make any adjustments. There's going to be a clamp and a pulley that pulls directly on our brake pedal, so even though we have that clamp attached to our pedal, it is going to be a lot less cumbersome than some of the other braking systems that have the entire actuator mounted to the pedal. Now, our actuator box is going to hide away in our cargo area, and we're going to have full adjustment of our braking force all the way from five to 80 PSI. You can simply pull out on the knob, turn to the right for more pressure, turn to the left for less pressure, and then lock it in place. Now, the more pressure we have the more force that our brakes are going to be applied. more

SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Braking System Installation - 2017 GMC Acadia

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 GMC Acadia we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Proportional Braking System, part number SM99251. Our SMI Stay-IN-Play Supplemental Braking System is going to provide a proportional braking force. As I apply the brakes, it will apply the same amount of braking force in our towed vehicle. Now since this system is proportional, I do have the brakes applied, and you notice that there's no lights showing on the bottom. Because it's proportional, you have to be over 20 miles an hour for it to apply the brakes in the towed vehicle. To start our install, we want to come inside the vehicle, and we need to find a place to mount our G-Force box. Now you want to make sure that the SMI is facing the passenger side. If you're not going to mount on the passenger side, its got to face that way. more

Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit Installation - 2017 GMC Terrain

Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 GMC Terrain, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit, part number RM-751439. Now the reason why we needed to install that stop light switch on our Terrain here is because it's going to tap into our brake switch so that our motorhome side, the indicator light will let us know when the brake pedal is being depressed. A lot of supplemental braking systems are going to take that signal from the way the cylinder is reacting and not actually tell you what's going on with the pedal. So if you're cylinder's improperly installed and it's going to hang the brakes up just slightly, you're not going to know until you either wear out your brakes or you have some flat spots in your tires from dragging your vehicle down the road. Now our brake light switch when properly installed and adjusted is going to let us know the actual operation of the pedal and not just the pulley or the braking system itself. That way we know when our brake pedal is being applied and when it's released on the inside of our motorhome. Now that we've gone over the benefits and how it works, let's show you how to get it installed. more

Blue Ox Patriot Proportional Braking System Installation - 2015 GMC Acadia- Video

Blue Ox Patriot Proportional Braking System Installation - 2015 GMC Acadia

Today on our 2015 GMC Arcadia, we'll be taking a look at and installing the Blue Ox Radio Frequency Proportional Portable Braking System, part number BRK2012. Now we're ready to tow our vehicle, we'll simply grab our portable proportional braking system, which is going to be that Blue Ox Patriot. We'll simply set it in the vehicle with our seat all the way back, slide the pedal hooks over the brake pedal into position, press the release button so it clamps on, and then ensure that it's as level as possible. We can do that by adjusting the feet on the bottom side. Once we have it level and it's nice and sturdy in there, we can then adjust the seat to meet up with it. Bring it forward and down to where it's even with the Blue Ox, where it just meets up. We'll then take our breakaway plug, insert it into the top, take our 12-volt outlet plug it in so we have constant power. Again remember that if your vehicle is being disconnected completely from a battery you will need to run a separate 12-volt harness. But if you're just running fuse bypasses, find a 12-volt outlet that's still going to work, plug it in, and turn it on. more
